Hello Screenwriters / Filmmakers
San Antonio Screenwriters Film Fest '09 is approaching fast. We got together last November and watched just over 2 hours of short films, and had a great time doing it. Now it's time to show your friends what you've been working on since then, so contact me at edoglz@yahoo.com if you have a short film you want to share with us. It could be something you and your team produced for the 48Hour film contest, or something you did just because you love doing it.
The exact date and time of Film Fest '09 has not yet been finalized but it will be take place the 7th or 14th November. I will contact everyone with the time and date when set.
I would like to have all films submitted by October 31st to have time to work out a viewing schedule and it is important that I say that this event is NOT limited to members of the San Antonio Screenwriter's Meetup Group.
Again, contact me a edoglz@yahoo.com, give me the name of your film and indicate the genre and the approximate viewing time. I will get back to you immediately, if not sooner.
Thanks
Eddie Gonzalez

FADE IN:
INT. MEETING HALL-NIGHT
Local professional and aspiring screenwriters meetup.
Pete
What are we going to do?
Eddie
We're going to discuss story ideas, plot lines, character development and the usual problems.
Mable
Like what?
Eddie
"Am I saying too much? "Is the scene clear?" "Is this too much dialogue?" "Should I use a series of shots, or a montage?" "Is this scene necessary?" "Is this formatted properly?" You get the idea.
Irene
So what do you want to do?
Eddie
Create scenes and work through these types of problems. Or work on scenes someone is having trouble with. Perhaps act it out to see how a director and actors might interpret it.
Rudy
What's your story?
Eddie
When I decided to write a screenplay, I was hesitant to tell anyone what I was doing. I didn't want to sound silly; after all, I really didn't know what the heck I was doing (still don't). It was difficult and I needed help, but I had no one to turn to. I almost quit, but I enjoyed the challenge and stuck with it.
Julio
Are you going teach us?
Eddie
Heck no. We're going to figure it out TOGETHER. It should be fun.
FADE OUT:
Keep working on the scripts and bring them with you.
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
What members are saying
“ It is a support group for budding screen writers. It is also a place to find contacts if a person is just starting out in this area, or looking for screen writers who are enthusiastic. ”
